Description

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Clinical Assistant to provide support to a hand, wrist & elbow specialty practice in a fast-paced environment. As a Clinical Assistant, you will play a critical role in assisting the Physician in providing high-quality care to patients with orthopedic conditions. Your responsibilities will include both administrative tasks and direct patient care duties. The ideal candidate should have excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and a passion for working with people.

Primary Responsibilities

Patient Care:

  • Prepare examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness and stocking necessary supplies.
  • Escort patients to examination rooms and assist in taking their medical history, including chief complaints and relevant medical information.
  • Prepare patients for procedures, surgeries, and treatments, explaining the process and providing reassurance.
  • Perform basic wound care, injection preparation, dressing changes, and suture removal under the direction of the surgeon.
  • Educate patients and their families on home exercises, and rehabilitation protocols.

Administrative Support:

  • Schedule patient appointments, follow-up visits, coordinating with other departments as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records (EMR), documenting patient encounters, procedures, and treatment plans.
  • Handle phone calls, inquiries, and messages promptly and professionally.
  • Coordinate referrals to other healthcare providers, diagnostic imaging facilities, and physical therapy as needed.
  • Manage and organize patient medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Requirements

  • Medical Assistant, EMT, ATC. Willing to train the right individual
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience with applicable patient care and administrative duties preferred.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and workflow management skills required.
  • Must maintain a professional attitude towards patients and an excellent and collegial working relationship with other personnel involved in patient care.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills, ability to work independently, and manage time effectively.
  • Computer and EHR software proficiency.
